I watched this with my wife a year, maybe two, after seeing the original season. I did not expect much, but thought the first season was excellent – Jennifer Aniston, in particular, was amazing. This time around, however, the show underdelivered.
The good news – the cast is still great, and the acting is still on point. The production value is excellent – every scene looks beautiful. Unfortunately, the subject matter is the making of a trashy morning show, which is not super interesting or relatable in itself. The first season was good because the plot was interesting and the characters were excellent. Neither of those are true this season.
The plot this time around is the morning show dealing with a combination of scandal, the coronavirus, and streaming services generally without a specific central point. Not the best. As far as characters, they somehowmanaged to make almost every character on the show unlikeable for the entirety of the season. For a few episodes, the sexual predator seemed to be the person they humanized the most. So, with no plot, an unrelatable setting, and unlikeable characters, the acting and production value don’t do enough to make the show enjoyable or interesting.
