Joker: Folie à Deux

During my DC rewatch, the movies I have dreaded the most were Aquaman 2 and this one. I disliked both of the originals more than most people, and the sequels didn’t get great reviews. Surprisingly, I didn’t hate Aquaman 2, so I was hoping for a similar miracle here. No luck.

This movie is the worst movie I’ve seen since Supergirl. It makes me want to go back and lower Joker’s rating, as it makes clear that Todd Phillips is nowhere near as good as people pretended he was for Joker. It takes the parts of the first movie that I thought were the weakest, the Joker mob and Arthur’s character development as the Joker, and cut out just about everything else from the first film. Instead, we get a Lady Gaga romance and a musical, both of which are beyond dreadful to watch. If all of the scenes with Lady Gaga or singing were cut out, this movie would be better, and it would still be awful.

On top of everything else, Joker and Harley Quinn are the two roles in 50 years of DC movie that have been portrayed the best – Heath Ledger, Margot Robbie and Jack Nicholson all made legendary marks on these characters. Watching Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix play them as depressed, boring losers is just even more sad in comparison.

This movie sucks. I rate it as The Worst and give it a 0.
