I’ve read this book many times before, including earlier this year. I didn’t intend to reread this so soon, but I got caught up in this great series while trying out the audiobooks.

The Cradle series’ dungeon book is finally here. I’m not a huge fan of dungeons in fantasy books in general, as there is a lot more action than the character stuff I tend to enjoy. I think Wight does a good job with his dungeon sequence, it is just not my bread and butter. More problematic for the plot, is we once again have a chance for some quality scenes with Lindon reuniting with his family, and it gets quickly shuffled aside for the dungeon journey. Also, there is way more Abidan content that I have no interest in reading. So the story is pretty good but not great.

As for the characters, the absence of Dross is noticeable. Lindon has some interesting progression, but the rest of the group feels completely skippable. It’s just not the best.

It is also above the floor for Will Wight, as the dungeon plot is well done enough to make it an interesting read. The book is solid and gets a 6, as we continue moving away from the peak of the series.
