I’m finally on the last of these fairly tedious books that I mistakenly purchased in advance, and although I found this one to be noticeably bad, I ended up getting the next book in the series anyway. It seems crazy, but hear me out. This series seems to operate in cycles of three – one book that I enjoy that sets a scene, one book that is kind of a waste of time but not completely useless, and then a third book that I recommend skipping entirely. Book 6, here, was the completely skippable book, but if the pattern holds, the next one should be solid. Right?
Ok, so book 6. Just like book 3, almost the entire plot takes place in some mystical dimension, with a small cross section of the major characters. Boring fight, boring fight, item description, skill description, etc. There is no character development, instead it is more of the main character brooding about whether he is losing himself, again. It wasn’t interesting before, and it isn’t getting better. I wish I had just read a brief synopsis and moved on to book 7.
It’s a bad book. 3 out of 10.
