Claymation Christmas

This 30 minute Christmas classic was my favorite holiday movie as a kid. In my 20s, I bought a VCR just so I could continue watching it on occasion, and now it is on Prime Video. So, I was able to introduce it to my two year old daughter for the first time, and it turns out that this movie is still magic 40 years later.

The two main voice actors do a good job as the uptight T-Rex and goofball Styracosaurus (I thought this was a triceratops as a kid, apparently I couldn’t count horns). For the most part, the movie is just fun versions of Christmas classics with goofy Claymation animals singing, dancing, or whatever in the background, but it all works. It feels like my daughter is more into Christmas and Christmas songs after seeing the film, which was the reason I showed it to her in the first place. She’s still trying to figure out why she cares about a fat man in a red suit, or a certain set of new songs, so all the help in building her Christmas spirit is appreciated.

This is an excellent Christmas movie, and at 27 minutes it is a perfect length for kids. I give it a 9, as far as family Christmas movies go.
