Frozen

With the long Thanksgiving weekend, we decided to finally tackle potty training our two year old. This seemed like a good time to introduce her to her first movie, as we are stuck in the house all day as she runs around naked. We chose Frozen, a movie that I’ve only seen once or twice but thought was pretty good. Most importantly, it has a princess (Elsa) that’s on a sweatshirt that my daughter refused to wear, and now that’s one less thing for her to complain about.

So, Frozen. It’s actually better than I remembered! Even though it is perfect for kids, it still has a lot of humor that works for adults. I appreciate Disney recognizing that kids can’t watch these movies alone, and throwing us a bone. Although Let it Go is overrated, there are a bunch of fun, memorable songs to sing with the kiddo. Other than Elsa, the characters are more nuanced than in a lot of Disney films, and the voice acting is solid.

The story is great too. It takes a pretty standard fairy tale approach, but adds in enough twists to be unique. I give this movie a 9, it’s an excellent family film.
